72 Secrets to Happiness
Secret 46 Certainty

I was reading from True Prosperity, by Yehuda Berg, on the same day as I was studying the secret of Certainty.  They both said essentially the same thing.  Certainty is the power cord for everything and every one of the 72 Secrets.  Without certainty, these secrets are like Power Tools without batteries or electricity.  You can read and study how to be happy and even believe that it works, but without certainty you will never find happiness.

Certainty is similar to confidence, it is knowing that what you are doing is the right thing and that it is already working.  You cannot just magically obtain certainty or confidence, particularly if you feel helpless or at the mercy of circumstances.

There is a similar situation that is summarized by the saying, "Winners never quit and quitters never win."  You can not just try one of these secrets once and know if it works.  And you cannot change everything about yourself with one decision to change.  You need baby steps and lots of them over a long period of time.  That is the race, it is not about speed or talent, it is about finishing what you start and not taking on too much at one time.

Little successes lead to certainty and confidence.  That is one of the reasons why there are 72 secrets and not just one big one.  Even these individual secrets need to be broken down into smaller pieces that you can more easily grasp and succeed at.

Happiness is not just for the few or privileged but for every single one of us, including you.  It just takes baby steps and time, but if you never enter the race you will never reach the goal.
